Altevir for HPV treatment: instructions for use

Introduction

Human papillomavirus is one of the most common viral infections in the world. According to WHO, about 90% of the world’s population is infected with it.

It is extremely difficult to get rid of a virus that has already entered the body: many patients try to get rid, including surgically , of growths on the skin, but after a while, unfortunately, more and more new formations form on the epithelium.

altevir

Therefore, it is advisable, in addition to surgical methods of getting rid of papilloma, to connect drugs that will destroy pathogenic microorganisms at the cellular level. One of these drugs is Altevir.

The composition of the drug

The active ingredient of the drug is recombinant human interferon alfa – 2b . The definition of “recombinant” indicates that the synthesis of this type of interferon is carried out using genetic engineering.

The human gene is inserted into the cells producing Escherichia coli bacteria, which produce the chemical.

For better dissolution and preservation of interferon alpha – 2b, the Altevir preparation contains excipients: sodium acetate, sodium chloride, tween, dextran, deionized water.

Release form of the medicinal product

On the pharmaceutical market, the drug is presented in only one form – a colorless and transparent liquid for injection of various types (subcutaneously, intravenously, intramuscularly).

There are different ways of packaging Altevira: it can be purchased in ampoules, vials and special glass syringes. Inside each of the packages contains a ready-to-use solution.

Cardboard packages contain from 5 to 10 ampoules of the drug, from 1 to 5 vials and from 1 to 3 syringes. The volume of the drug is from 0.5 to 1 ml, depending on the manufacturer and the method of packaging.

How does the drug affect papillomas and warts?

The drug belongs to the natural human interferon alpha-2b, which provides it with antiviral and immunomodulatory properties.

ATTENTION! Altevir…

  • promotes the synthesis of enzymes and cytotoxins;
  • activates the function of macrophages, killer cells and T-lymphocytes;
  • blocks the production of viral RNA in cells;
  • prevents the proliferation of oncogenic cells, thereby reducing the risk of developing a tumor.

Altevir affects the human immune system and directs it to fight a harmful virus. The drug launches a chain of reactions that block the reproduction of HPV, suppressing the body’s ability to synthesize the proteins necessary for this process.

In addition, interferon alpha – 2b, attaching to the cell membrane of a healthy cell and changing it, makes the cell impenetrable to the virus. If the virus has already managed to penetrate into the cells of the human body, then the drug affects the rate of synthesis of the HPV genetic material, which blocks its intracellular reproduction.

In what cases is it prescribed, instructions for use?

  • Hepatitis B or C.

How to apply in the treatment of HPV?

ATTENTION! Treatment with Altevir is possible only after consulting a doctor and necessary medical examinations. In no case should you try to self-medicate. This is fraught with serious consequences.

Treatment of HPV with Altevir is given as a subcutaneous injection. The permissible dosage is 3 million IU 3 times a week, that is, in fact, every other day.

However, in each individual case, the doctor may determine a different treatment regimen: the dosage of the drug largely depends on the individual characteristics of the patient. The first results become noticeable after 6 months of treatment.

The drug begins to be used only after surgery to remove formations on the skin.

Important!
Due to the fact that, as a rule, HPV treatment is quite long, the doctor determines the treatment regimen, the first injections are given in the medical institution, which the patient can subsequently perform independently at home.

Possible side effects (effects)

The drug has a fairly wide range of possible side effects:

  • Most often, against the background of the introduction of Altevira, it is possible to develop symptoms such as cold, trembling, fever, weakness.
  • There may be disturbances in the functioning of the central nervous system, as a result of which a migraine develops, thoughts of suicide may arise against the background of a developing depressive state; possible dizziness, insomnia or, conversely, increased drowsiness, general weakness. In rare cases, a feeling of anxiety, irritability may develop.
  • Violations are also possible from the musculoskeletal system: there is a high probability of developing pain in muscle tissues and joints.
  • Often observed and violations in the digestive tract. A patient during treatment with Altevir may begin to complain of a change in taste sensations, a feeling of dryness or bitterness in the oral cavity, bouts of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite. In rare cases, attacks of pain in the abdomen are possible.
  • Failures against the background of treatment can also give the cardiovascular system. Not uncommon – the occurrence of tachycardia, lowering blood pressure.
  • Altevir treatment can also be reflected on the patient’s skin: rashes are often observed, itching, hair loss is possible.
  • Failures in the hematopoietic system are likely: a decrease in the concentration of hemoglobin and platelets in the blood, a decrease in the number of granulocytes and leukocytes is possible.
  • In rare cases, there is the development of autoimmune thyroiditis, weight loss.

If these negative reactions are extremely pronounced, then it is advisable, with the consent of the doctor, to halve the dose. Another solution is to completely stop taking Altevir, and after the condition returns to normal, resume treatment, but by administering a lower dose of the drug.

With repeated resumption of negative reactions from the patient’s body, subject to the introduction of smaller doses or in the absence of improvement in the condition within 3-4 months, it is advisable to stop taking Altevira.

Is it possible to treat papillomas with a drug during pregnancy and lactation?

Taking the drug during childbearing and during breastfeeding is strictly contraindicated.

Is the drug prescribed for children?

Altevir is not prescribed for children under 18 years of age.

Drug analogues in the treatment of warts and papilloma

In case of intolerance to the drug, the doctor can replace it. Among the analogues of Altevira, the most popular due to their effectiveness are:

  • Laifferon , which has antiviral, immunomodulatory and antitumor effects, the active substance is the same as in Altevir – recombinant interferon. The decision to prescribe a particular drug is made by the doctor, guided by the individual characteristics of the patient, his anamnesis.
  • Roferon . Its main active ingredient is alpha 2a – interferon, the dosage of which in the drug is much lower than that of interferon alpha – 2b in Altevir. Therefore, the treatment is usually longer. The main purpose of the drug is to improve the weakened body.
  • Viferon is a broad-spectrum drug that successfully copes with influenza, herpes, HPV and other infections. The drug activates human immunity against the background of blocking the action of pathogenic microorganisms. Also, Viferon is absolutely safe for children, starting from a very young age; it is possible to treat with the drug and women who are carrying a child and breastfeeding.

HPV treatment is a long and painstaking procedure. Altevir is a drug that can alleviate it and make it effective. But it is necessary to take it only in agreement with the attending physician and under his supervision. Self-medication is unacceptable. Be healthy!
