Characteristics of the drug
Allokin-Alpha is a new generation antiviral agent that has a number of its own features and properties.
Dosage form
The drug is available in the form of a lyophilizate for the manufacture of a solution that is injected subcutaneously. The lyophilized powder is hygroscopic and white in color.
Composition and main active ingredient
One ampoule of Allokin-Alpha contains 1 mg of alloferon, which is also the main active ingredient. Alloferon is a natural cytokine-like peptide obtained by chemical synthesis. It has a pronounced antitumor and antiviral activity.
Pharmacological properties
Alloferon is an oligopeptide. According to the pharmacological action, it has much in common with alpha interferon. Alloferon is an effective inducer of interferon synthesis and an activator of natural killers.
It stimulates cytotoxic lymphocytes to recognize defective cells and promotes the restoration of T-cell immunity. The experiments revealed a high efficiency of the impact on infections provoked by human papillomaviruses, hepatitis C and B, influenza, herpes types 1 and 2.
General effect on the body
Allokin-Alpha is non-toxic, has no carcinogenic and mutagenic effects, allergenic properties, does not affect the reproductive function and toxic effects on the hematopoietic organs.
Excluded hepato-nephrotoxic and embryotoxic effects. The drug has a positive effect on interferon and immune status, is not addictive.
The immunomodulatory and antiviral activity of the drug improves the quality of life of the patient, namely:
- the relapse period is halved;
- the remission period is doubled;
- the severity of recurrence is reduced.
The drug is activated only in infected cells and is not introduced into the DNA, it is excreted from the body unchanged.
Medication packaging (ampoules)
Allokin-Alpha is available in colorless glass ampoules, each of which contains 1 mg of the drug. Ampoules in the amount of 10, 5, 3, 2 or 1 are placed in a blister pack. One or two blister packs are placed in a small cardboard box along with instructions.
The mechanism of action on the HPV virus
When using the drug for the treatment of human papillomavirus infection, the elimination effect was first obtained in 90% of cases with cervical dysplasia after half a month.
Allokin-Alpha activates natural killers that destroy virus-infected cells and their contents. The drug acts localized, directly in the focus of inflammation, which avoids unnecessary reactions of the immune system.
