Purpose, dosage and contraindications of Isoprinosin tablets

Isoprinosine is an antimicrobial drug of synthetic origin (based on purines – substances built into the structure of cell nuclei and genes).

The tool is complex, is an effective immunomodulator  – regulates the immune system, helps to resist viruses and infections. The features and purpose of tablets, interaction and possible negative reactions will be discussed in the next article.

Ingredients of Isoprinosine

The tablets are white in color, oblong in shape with a dividing line, have a specific, mild smell of amines.

1 tablet contains:

  • the main substance is inosine pranobex (a synthetic component of RNA that affects lymphocytes and restores immune function);
  • mannitol (E421) – a duaretic (sugar alcohol promotes the removal of fluid from tissues);
  • povidone – enterosorbent (removes toxins from the body);
  • magnesium stearate – a salt of magnesium and octadecanoic acid (used as a dusting agent);
  • wheat starch – “strong flour” (intended for the structure of tablets).

Isoprinosine tablets, 500 mg, packed in 50 or 30 pcs. in 1 carton.

Packing – blisters (10 tablets in each plate).

Why the antiviral drug Isoprinosine?

Important!
It is strictly forbidden to apply the product on your own, without examination and appointment of a specialist.

Direct prescription of the drug:

  • herpes infection type 1 (“fever” on the lips, nose and eye area) and type 2 (rashes on the genitals);
  • shingles (herpes zoster) – painful skin rashes;
  • chickenpox (chickenpox) – acute herpesvirus (type 3), blisters, more common in children;
  • Epstein-Barr virus – type 4 herpes virus (causes the development of infectious mononucleosis, nasopharyngeal carcinoma);
  • measles (in severe course of the disease) – an acute infectious disease – damage to the mucous membrane of the eyes, respiratory organs, spotted rashes on the skin;
  • mumps (“mumps”, “mumps”) – damage to the salivary and pancreas and testes (in boys);
  • respiratory infections (ARVI, influenza).

  • HPV genital – affected area: vagina, uterus, rectum, anal area;
  • HPV fibrous – benign neoplasms on the larynx, vocal cords;

  • hepatitis – a viral disease that affects the liver (has 5 types);
  • sclerosing panencephalitis (subacute form) – a complication after measles, a deadly inflammation of the brain;
  • molluscum contagiosum is a smallpox virus characterized by raised, spherical eruptions on the skin all over the body.

Instructions for using the product

Important!
The doctor determines the treatment regimen, dosage, pill regimen, according to the updated diagnosis, history, course of the disease. Repeat the course of treatment or cancel the drug, only a doctor can according to general indications.

Tablets are taken orally, the dose is prescribed according to the age and weight of the patient:

  • adults – from 0.5 g to 4 g per day;
  • children from 3 to 12 years old – 0.05 g (50 mg) per 1 kg of body weight during the day.

In severe and acute type of the disease, the doctor increases the daily dosage to 0.1 (100 mg), per 1 kg of body weight. The dose is evenly divided into 4-6 doses.

The maximum use for adults is up to 4 g of a daily dose; children – no more than 50 mg per kg of the child’s weight.

In acute manifestations of the disease, an intensive course of treatment is 5-14 days, then the dosage is reduced, the intake can be continued for 2 days or stopped (according to indications).

With a long course of viral infections, the duration of the course is at least 1-2 weeks, further therapy depends on the patient’s condition.

With relapses, the scheme is the same as with the acute form. Further, the dosage is reduced to 2 tablets per day. The course of treatment is repeated several times if necessary.

In the chronic stage, treatment is long-term, for 1-3 months, depending on the symptoms, with 30-day breaks.

Use in children

Important!
Isoprinosine is contraindicated for children under 3 years old.

In some cases of emergency, tablets  are prescribed for children from 1 year old with a weight of at least 10–20 kg. Treatment  only under the strict supervision of the attending physician.

Dosage:

  • 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight;
  • with a weight of 20 kg, an adult dose of -3–4 r is used. per day, the allowable daily allowance is not more than 4 g.

Method of administration – to facilitate swallowing, it is recommended to crush the tablet, drink plenty of water.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

For women during pregnancy, especially in the 1st or 2nd trimester, tablets are contraindicated.

During lactation, the drug is not recommended. Perhaps the use of tablets subject to a temporary cessation of breastfeeding.

Consequences of an overdose

With a strict correct regimen of taking and observing the daily norm of Isoprinosine, undesirable consequences are unlikely. Cases of overdose have not been recorded.

Possible side effects

  • increase in the level of uric acid in the blood and urine (most often non-critical, within the normal range);
  • allergic reactions (urticaria, swelling, itching, rarely anaphylactic shock);
  • insomnia or, conversely, drowsiness, nervousness, irritability, fatigue;
  • non-systemic headaches, dizziness (vertigo);
  • nausea to vomiting, abdominal discomfort, constipation, or indigestion;
  • joint pain (arthralgia);
  • increased urine output (polyuria).

Medication contraindications

  • drug allergy;
  • increased uric acid (hyperuricemia);
  • gout (possibly exacerbation);
  • the presence of kidney stones, renal failure;
  • irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia);
  • Children under 1 year old are strictly prohibited.

Interaction

It is not recommended to take in parallel without consulting a doctor:

  • immunosuppressants that suppress the immune system (cytostatics and antibiotics);
  • diuretic drugs (furosemide, chlorthalidol, etc.).

With alcohol

Isoprinosine, like most drugs, is incompatible with alcohol (in any concentration). Tablets can cause unwanted reactions and dangerous effects.

Storage conditions

The drug belongs to list B. According to the legislation of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, it should be stored:

  • do not use with extreme caution, without medical supervision;
  • only in the original packaging (preserve the integrity of the blister, it is forbidden to pour it into another container);
  • storage temperature – 21–25 ° С.
  • storage place – dry, dark, inaccessible to children.

Expiry date of the drug

Shelf life – no more than 5 years. The date of issue and the expiration date are indicated on the carton.

Isoprinosine is available in pharmacies only by prescription. Moreover, the pharmacist in the prescription (one-time or urgent) makes a note about the time of purchase and the dosage of the drug.

special instructions

  • positive dynamics is observed from the first day of the use of tablets;
  • with long-term treatment, monitoring of uric acid levels (blood and urine tests) is necessary, especially for the elderly;
  • in patients with liver pathologies, tests for liver enzymes are taken every 4 weeks;
  • people who are allergic to wheat, these tablets are not recommended;
  • a long course of treatment provokes the formation of kidney stones (nephrolithiasis);
  • with caution should take the drug to drivers and people involved in hazardous activities (builders, athletes, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, etc.).

In conclusion, Isoprinosine or isoprinosine analogues is indeed an effective remedy, especially at the initial stage of the disease. You can not ignore even the first symptoms, bring the body to a critical point. The main thing is to turn to a specialist for help in time.

    Лечиться Изопринозином от герпеса можно только если у тебя лошадиное здоровье. Инозин пранобекс конкретно так бьёт по почкам и печени. После недели такого лечения в рехаб надо, как от тяжелого похмелья.
