Cycloferon is an immunomodulatory drug of domestic production. Its active ingredients are meglumine acridon acetate and methylglucamine in free form.
The drug is not limited to immunomodulation, it also has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-carcinogenic and antimetastatic effects. It is considered a low molecular weight interferon inducer, increasing its production and accumulating it in the body.
Cycloferon itself does not contain interferon. Its effectiveness is manifested in relation to the herpes virus, HPV and ARVI pathogens – parainfluenza, influenza, adeno-, cytomegalo- and enterovirus.
It has an inhibitory effect on the reproduction of the virus in the initial stage of infection (1-5 days), causes the formation of defective viral particles.
In addition, it inhibits autoimmune reactions and is therefore prescribed for rheumatism, collagenoses. It has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.
The drug is prescribed for:
- herpes;
- acute intestinal infections;
- hepatitis;
- SARS and influenza;
- neuroinfections (meningitis, Lyme disease);
- HIV infection;
- secondary immunodeficiencies.
Cycloferon is combined with other antiviral agents, antibiotics, antimycotics, cytostatics. It potentiates their effect.
In the body, the drug accumulates mainly in the liver, lungs, intestines and spleen. A wide spectrum of action is due to the fact that the drug does not act on individual viruses, but causes the entire immune system to activate.
The half-life of the drug is 4-5 hours. With a properly selected dosage, accumulation in the body does not occur.
After taking the pill, the active substance accumulates in the blood plasma, and reaches its maximum value after 2-3 hours. After that, the concentration begins to gradually decrease. A day later, only its remains are present in the body.
Therapeutic effect in the treatment of HPV (treatment regimen)
Treatment with Cycloferon is best done at the onset of the disease. When it enters the lymphoid tissues of the body, it increases the level of interferon production. Stem cells are activated and begin to produce T-lymphocytes that destroy viruses. These include helpers and suppressors.
The active part of the drug penetrates into the diseased cell, where it damages fragments of the DNA of the virus. This leads to violations of the replication of the virus, it no longer reproduces and cannot release toxins. Then the destroyed particles are excreted from the body.
The drug prevents the virus from damaging healthy epithelial cells. It induces the production of its own interferon in the body.
How to use the drug for papillomas and warts?
Cycloferon relieves papilloma on the skin without any scarring and inflammation. Thanks to the correlation of immunity, all growths disappear on their own.
Cycloferon is used for HPV in complex therapy. Tablets are taken half an hour before meals, while drinking at least half a glass of water. The tablet is swallowed whole, without chewing. The dose is prescribed by age.
The protective enteric shell of the tablet will not allow the hydrochloric acid of the stomach to destroy the main substance of the drug. Tablets are drunk only according to the scheme prescribed by the doctor.
And although the general scheme is indicated in the instructions, the doctor, according to the clinical picture, can change it at his own discretion. This is possible when studying the patient’s medical history, taking into account previous treatment.
Dosage and administration
With HPV, adults take 2-4 tablets half an hour before meals according to the scheme: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20 and 23 days of illness. In total, the course requires 20-40 tablets. The course of admission is 10 days. If necessary, re-admission is allowed 2-3 weeks after the first course.
Treatment is carried out only during periods of exacerbations. The drug can be combined with etiotropic therapy. A missed reception does not mean that the next one should be double.
After the elimination of growths from the surface of the skin, an additional course of immunomodulatory therapy should be carried out to consolidate the result.
Cycloferon in inflammatory diseases cannot be used as an antibiotic therapy and cannot replace an antibiotic.
Precautionary measures
If the general condition of the patient worsens during the use of the drug, the treatment should be stopped and the cause of this condition should be investigated. With gastritis in the acute stage, duodenal ulcer, stomach and duodenitis, Cycloferon is not prescribed. In the presence of Helicobacter pylori infection, the drug provokes an exacerbation of the disease.
You should also take into account the presence of an allergophone of the body. In case of pathologies of the thyroid gland, the drug should be prescribed under the supervision of an endocrinologist.
The tool potentiates the action of other interferons when they are administered together. It is acceptable to combine it with drugs from other groups, while taking it, the side effects of chemotherapy in oncology are reduced.
