Papilloma removal with electrocoagulator: procedure, prices and reviews

Introduction

Clean, smooth skin without cosmetic defects has always been an indicator of quality care and was highly valued. But in cases of serious skin pathologies, the main thing is not to let things take their course, but to seek help from the appropriate specialists as soon as possible.

A number of cases require serious treatment, in other situations, such as, for example, when papilloma occurs, simple procedures are sufficient.

Getting rid of formations with the help of electrocoagulation

This highly effective method is the impact on the affected area of direct or alternating current of high frequency.

Human skin is an unimportant conductor, therefore, with intense local heating of tissues on a certain part of the body, coagulation of skin proteins occurs. They coagulate, the liquid evaporates, and the tissue burns.

Advantages and disadvantages of electrocoagulation

The advantages of this method are:

  1. Versatility . Electrocoagulation is used not only in cosmetology. Stopping bleeding in surgery, cauterization of hemorrhoids in proctology, destruction of polyps in ENT practice, treatment of erosions in gynecology  – this is not a complete list of areas of medicine that practice this method. And in cosmetology, it is almost unlimited – the elimination of nevi and capillary network, the removal of tattoos and warts, the fight against hemangiomas and papules, the treatment of Darier’s disease, rosacea, and much more.
  2. Possibility to examine the obtained samples for the presence of cancer cells . The admissibility of histological analysis favorably distinguishes the method from cryodestruction or laser therapy, since the papilloma in this case is not completely destroyed and gives a sufficient amount of material.
  3. procedure reliability . The soldering of blood vessels during cauterization eliminates extensive blood loss, and the layer of dehydrated tissues at the site of removal shrinks into a crust, which prevents infection from entering the wound.
  4. Speed . Most often, only one procedure is needed to eliminate the formation.
  5. Painlessness . Whether anesthesia is needed or not, the patient decides after consulting a doctor. Removal of single small papillomas takes 1-2 seconds, the use of anesthesia in this case is not advisable. Extensive skin lesions require injections such as lidocaine. For small patients with a significant degree of damage, light inhalation anesthesia is used. Action time – 5-7 minutes. Subsequently, the child does not retain any negative memories.
  6. Quick recovery . Careful adherence of patients to the recommendations for postoperative care guarantees the restoration of skin integument in 10-12 days. The risk of scars and scars is minimized.
  7. Lack of preparatory procedures .
  8. Maximum precision .
  9. The doctor independently regulates the level and mode of thermal exposure  only to the tissues of the neoplasm, excluding the effect on healthy areas.

The disadvantages include:

  1. Soreness . Since the pain threshold is different for everyone, cauterization of a papilloma can cause a displeased grimace in one, and a deep faint in another. Especially unpleasant is the removal of papillomas from the feet and soles.
  2. The use of local anesthetics for anesthesia is the risk of an allergic reaction.
  3. The burn site must be treated throughout the recovery period .
  4. Unfortunately, it is impossible to give a 100% guarantee for the absence of scars . If the removal was quite deep, the neoplasm is extensive, and the scab is inadvertently damaged, a scar may appear. In addition, cauterization can cause tissue depigmentation, which will stand out noticeably against the background of healthy skin.
  5. In rare cases, tissue necrosis, relapse is possible .

Contraindications for the use of an electric knife

With multiple advantages, electrocoagulation also has a number of contraindications. The patient should consult his doctor about all the nuances before signing up for the procedure. The specialist may advise you to undergo an additional examination and take tests to rule out future complications.

Elektrokoagulyatsiya

The procedure is strictly contraindicated for:

  • violation of blood coagulation processes;
  • individual intolerance to procedures using electric current;
  • herpetic skin rashes (or foreshadowing signs);
  • exacerbation of a chronic disease;
  • allergies to the anesthetic used;
  • oncological diseases;
  • endocrine diseases (for example, diabetes mellitus);
  • diseases of the cardiovascular system (pulmonary and heart failure, arterial hypertension);
  • immune deficiency syndrome;
  • suspicion of malignant degeneration of education;
  • with a pacemaker installed;
  • with nervous pathologies, epilepsy and other mental disorders;
  • photodermatosis (increased sensitivity to both direct and scattered sunlight).

Important!
The above features exclude the use of the described method, but do not prohibit alternative methods. The use of a laser, cryodestruction , surgical removal are also popular and have their advantages.

Acute respiratory viral diseases, pregnancy and breastfeeding are a reason to postpone the procedure.

How is it carried out?

  • The patient is placed on the couch, the surface of the skin is treated with a disinfectant.
  • If necessary, an anesthetic injection is given.
  • Education is cauterized with an electrode. Under the action of high temperature (up to 80 degrees), the leg of the papilloma is excised, and high-frequency currents act on the base. There is a sealing of small vessels, which eliminates bleeding. If the papilloma “sits” deep, it is burned out from there.
  • This is followed by the application of a corticosteroid ointment and the application of a sterile dressing or patch.
  • The rest of the tissue is sent for histological examination.

The safety and effectiveness of cauterization depends on the skill and experience of the physician. The number of papillomas and the degree of their localization affect the settings of the device and the choice of a suitable nozzle: an electrode with a ball at the end, a metal loop or a needle.

HELP! It is best to remove papillomas in autumn or winter. It is recommended to cover the treated area from ultraviolet radiation for 1-2 months in order to avoid the appearance of pigmentation. In addition, profuse sweat helps soften the scab, and the healing process is delayed, increasing the risk of scarring.

Important!
Do not drink alcohol before the procedure – the quality of anesthesia may decrease.

How long does it take and how much does it cost?

It takes a little time for the procedure: from 2 to 15 minutes (depending on the number of neoplasms). The growths on the “leg” are removed the fastest, the wide base is burned out gradually in layers, which is longer in time.

The price tag ranges from 400 to 1500 rubles per procedure. The cost is affected by the degree of deepening of the “roots” of the papilloma and the total area of the lesion, as well as the qualifications of clinical workers. Anesthesia and histological examination are paid separately. In addition, in some medical centers, the treatment of the skin of the face and the eye area is more expensive than the body.

Wound care

The healing time is about two weeks, and during this period, the patient must carefully care for the wound. Above all at this time – accuracy and sterility.

2-3 times a day the bandage is changed to a fresh one. Before applying a clean bandage, the wound is treated with the recommended antiseptic (Miramistin, Chlorhexidine) or a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Alcohol solutions are not used due to drying of the skin.

The crust formed on the wound should not be torn off, wetted and combed with fingers. Visiting saunas, baths and pools is canceled for a while. The place is protected from sunlight. Decorative cosmetics, belongings, alkalis and pumice are also not used.

After the crusts fall off, the healing site can be lubricated with vitamins E, A and olive oil.

Complications after the procedure

  • Poor blood clotting or an affected large vessel can lead to bleeding. It starts immediately or occurs in a day or two.
  • Allergic reaction. The form can be mild (dermatitis, urticaria, rhinitis, conjunctivitis) or severe (angioedema, anaphylactic shock).
  • Suppuration due to infection.
  • The appearance of depigmented or connective tissue scars

Prevention

The disease is easier to prevent than to treat – long, tedious and costly. To prevent the development of such an unpleasant skin disease as papillomas, certain preventive measures will help – the basics of a healthy lifestyle:

  • Compliance with hygiene standards.
  • A healthy balanced diet, intake of vitamins and minerals (especially ascorbic acid).
  • Reasonable physical activity and hardening.
  • Complete sleep.
  • Quit smoking and alcohol.
  • Regular medical examinations.
  • Maintaining immunity at a high level.
  • Cleansing the body of toxins and toxins.

Reviews about the removal of papilloma by electrocoagulation

In most cases, the electrocoagulation procedure is rated very highly.

What do patients like? First of all, speed. There is no need to pre-prepare, diet and take medications both before and after the procedure. At the end, they can go home and do their usual household chores, sports and studies.

Svetlana, 33 years old, housewife. “For many years there was a papilloma on the foot, which in the last year began to increase in size and wear out to blood. I suffered from walking, there were problems with the selection of shoes. I decided to go to the clinic and did not regret it: the papilloma was removed on the same day. Everything went quickly, without pain. I started walking right away.”

The list of postoperative complications is very small, as is the price, which distinguishes this process from similar methods.

Pain is mild and does not last long. Aftercare is uncomplicated and easy to carry out in all conditions. The percentage of appearance flaws is so scanty that rarely anyone goes through the procedure with fear or excitement.

Anna, 21, fashion model. “Modern technologies are just magic! A year ago, a papilloma appeared on the nose. Words cannot express the experience – the appearance is spoiled! And it’s scary to go away – suddenly the scar will remain! I learned about the method of electrocoagulation. Booked for deletion.

Everything went quickly, there was practically no pain, only the skin smelled slightly of burnt skin. Paid 2000 rubles. Gave me a care note. Two weeks later, the wound completely healed: no scar, no sore – the skin is smooth, slightly, although it differs in color. The doctor explained that this is a temporary phenomenon and gradually the color will become normal. I am very pleased!

Conclusion

Removal of papilloma is dictated not only by concern for the external beauty of the face or body. Of course, clean smooth skin adds attractiveness and boosts self-confidence. This is especially of concern to the fair sex. But from a medical point of view, papillomas are like time bombs.

Constant injury to it can lead not only to the formation of ulceration and inflammation. There is not the slightest guarantee that in the future a benign tumor will not degenerate into a malignant one. And this is deadly. Folk wisdom says: “You can’t buy health for any money,” so take it into your own hands right now.

  5. Ga_Linda says:
