Are red papillomas on the body dangerous and how to treat them?

Red papillomas often appear on the body of adults – over 40 years old. First, as a rule, one tiny nodule is found, then it can begin to grow or whole groups of growths form.

Most men and women do not attach importance to them and consider the formations to be something like pimples or moles. But red papilloma  is not a minor cosmetic problem.

If it appears, the body gives a signal about violations in the immune system. When the formation suddenly begins to grow, itch, hurt – you need to urgently consult a doctor.

What is a growth on the body on a red body?

Red small growths on the body, which are also called angiomas, are benign formations consisting of thin blood vessels woven into a ball.

Growths form throughout the body, but there are especially many of them, as a rule, in the armpits, inner thighs, on the chest in women and in the genital area in men.

Physical damage to the papilloma – a cut, a violation of the integrity of the surface during active washing with a washcloth, for example – leads to the appearance of profuse bleeding from the formation, and the blood may not stop for several hours in a row. In this case, it is necessary to use hydrogen peroxide and tightly tighten the damaged area.

If the angioma is small (up to 3 mm), does not protrude above the surface of the skin and does not have a thin stem, then you should not worry. In about 10% of cases, such formations even disappear on their own.

Important!
Sometimes papillomas can degenerate into malignant tumors. If education showed even a slight increase, you should definitely consult a doctor.

Types and causes of education

Three types of angiomas are diagnosed:

  • cavernous hemangioma. It has a specific, well-defined contour, when pressed it is soft, does not cause discomfort;
  • branched hemangioma. Consists of a group of single papillomas, “twisted” into a common ball. The color, as a rule, is darker than that of single formations, and with light pressure on the formation with a finger, it slightly pulsates;
  • capillary hemangioma. The most common angioma, looks like a small reddish vascular glomerulus, almost never degenerates into cancer.

The main (many doctors believe that the only) cause of papillomas on the body is the activation of the papillomavirus. Papillomavirus can enter the body in different ways:

  • in sexual relations – almost guaranteed;
  • domestic way – in the pool or SPA complex, hairdresser, manicure room;
  • when using a comb, toothbrush or shoes of a sick person.

The baby during childbirth most often receives the virus from the mother.

When infected, three scenarios are possible:

  • the body was healthy, the immune system was strong. In this case, infection will not occur, the body will cope with the virus on its own;
  • after an illness or operation, infection can occur, and papillomas will appear, but with full recovery and strengthening of immunity, they will go away on their own – this happens in 10% of cases;
  • infection will occur, but the virus will be in a state of waiting (a kind of hibernation), waiting for a favorable moment to activate.

In the third case, papillomavirus can be in the body for many years (in some cases, even an analysis for latent infections will not show it), but if a number of conditions are met and a good moment appears, it is activated.

What contributes to the manifestation of HPV?

  • severe infectious diseases of the genital area requiring antibiotic therapy;
  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute stage;
  • persistent (more than three times a year) acute respiratory infections;
  • thyroid disease;
  • stroke, heart attack;
  • real avitaminosis;
  • Smoking and alcohol abuse are the main “provocateurs” of the appearance of papillomas.

Help. To reduce the risk of growths, you need to eat right, get rid of bad habits, and be sure to drink a course of vitamins after the treatment of serious diseases.

Locations and symptoms

Papilloma does not have a particularly preferred location. A formation can occur on the body anywhere – on the thigh, abdomen, toes, genitals, in some cases – on the eyelids or corners of the mouth.

In a stable state, formations, even multiple ones, do not cause any problems – they do not itch, do not become inflamed, do not cause pain during palpation and friction.

In most cases, the discomfort is only aesthetic – bright blood-red nodules or their scattering throughout the body do not adorn a person. If the formation has arisen on the face, it is recommended to remove it.

Why education is dangerous

First of all, angiomas are dangerous because, in the event of an unfavorable development of events, they can degenerate into a cancerous tumor.

It is worth seeing a doctor as soon as possible if there are signs of a change in papilloma, such as:

  • increase in the size of the formation, compaction;
  • a clear increase in temperature in the place where there is an angioma;
  • pain when pressed with a finger;
  • itching, tingling occurs around the site of the lesion;
  • the color of the formation becomes brighter, richer;
  • at the location of the papilloma, inflammation occurs that does not go away for a long time.

If several foci of formations appear on the body in a very short time, and they continue to grow, this indicates diseases of the liver or pancreas. In this case, it is necessary to do an ultrasound of the abdominal cavity and pass tests.

Diagnosis of the disease

If red nodules or spots do not bother you – they do not itch, do not grow, do not become inflamed, but their number is constantly growing – it makes sense to undergo a series of examinations to find out the exact picture. What is included in the diagnosis?

  • a general blood test – will show the presence of an inflammatory process and the level of platelets;
  • a blood test for PCR – in this case, blood is taken from a vein, it is examined for the presence of papillomavirus;
  • analysis for tumor markers.

Obligatory examination by a dermatologist, consultation of an oncologist and a gynecologist.

The oncologist will have to find out if there is a risk of degeneration of the formation into cancer.

Important!
A gynecologist in the presence of papilloma on the mucous membranes of the genital organs will definitely recommend a biopsy, since it is this localization that increases the risk of malignancy of the neoplasm.

Features of treatment

Papillomas on the body can be removed in several ways – drug therapy, local strengthening of immunity ( folk remedies ) and surgically  – by removing the formation.

Medical therapy

First of all, it is aimed at removing inflammatory processes in the body that reduce immunity, and strengthening the body’s defenses.

Assign usually:

  • vitamin complexes, selected individually depending on the deficiency of trace elements;
  • antiviral drugs (Anaferon, Viferon) – to reduce the number of pathogenic organisms;
  • if the oncogenicity is high, Inosiplex is prescribed.

It is also mandatory to give up bad habits, increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables, daily light exercise and walks in the fresh air.

When diagnosing large formations, they are recommended to be removed.

Removal of HPV

When deciding to remove an angioma, doctors will offer several options:

  • surgical removal under local anesthesia. The formation is removed with a scalpel, then the root is cut out. The procedure is considered obsolete and is rarely used, since scars remain after the operation;
  • cryodestruction – cauterization of formations with liquid nitrogen;
  • electrocoagulation – removal of angioma by electric current;
  • laser therapy.

The last method of removal is the most modern and preferred, since after the laser, papilloma tissues die and are easily removed from a healthy area of the skin. It leaves no scars or inflammation.

Is it possible to treat folk remedies

If the formations grow, their number increases, or redness appears at the site of the papilloma, you should consult a doctor. The rest of the time, you can use folk remedies to strengthen the body’s defenses and suppress the virus. What can be used for treatment?

  • tea with chamomile and linden;
  • honey;
  • fees that stimulate the immune system (with wild rose, nettle, St. John’s wort and viburnum fruits);
  • baths with soda (not hot and in the absence of contraindications).

It is strictly forbidden at home to try to “burn” formations – this can lead to severe bleeding and a sharp increase in papillomas.

Prevention of HPV red

As a preventive measure, you must try to prevent infection with the virus:

  • walk carefully in common areas (when visiting the sauna, use individual towels, after the pool, thoroughly wash the body and intimate places with soap);
  • do not use other people’s hygiene items;
  • wash hands frequently and thoroughly.

If the virus is already in the body, strengthen the body’s defenses. Drink vitamins, fresh juices, eat a lot of vegetables, walk a lot and play sports.

The best prevention method is to stop smoking and drinking alcohol.

Thus, if there are two or three small angiomas on the body, there is no need to worry, but it makes sense to quit smoking, change eating habits and take blood tests.

If the formations began to grow, there are more of them – be sure to see a doctor, undergo a course of treatment and, if necessary, remove the formations with a laser.
